Day Sailin' on Cape Arrow

by Tracy on

A wonderful day sail with friends on a beautiful Southern Wind 100RS, Cape Arrow. We sailed from Genoa to La Spezia, Italia. It's March so the weather was a little cool but sunny and the snow on the mountains made this into a very special, picture-postcard day. It was my first time sailing on such a yacht and it was amazing how light the helm was and how fast were were going.

It was not a big wind day but a yacht like this will be able to obtain speed equal to the wind speed on anything over 6 knots so in 12 knots that's how fast we were going. What a feeling!

I hate to say it but the difference between the feel on the helm in this yacht and the Hallberg-Rassy 54 was like the difference between driving a golf cart and a Ferrari. This was due to the more direct connection to the rudder versus through a series of rods, gearboxes and universal joints on the HR.

Run time is 00:03:44
