Like the song by Richie Valens, our world revolves around Donna these days. She’s a slow moving cyclone (see the map), currently ambling along at 2kts over the ground and still up to the north of us and Vanuatu although we are feeling her effects already with wind gusts and rainy showers.

Feelin' Good arrived in New Zealand in November of 2015 and all of us enjoyed spending the NZ summer months cruising the North Island, meeting up with our Pacific cruising friends and just hanging out. This video helps document some of the fun times we had and concludes with our passage from Opua, NZ to Nadi, Fiji.

After six months of enjoying all New Zealand has to offer (and it’s amazing how wonderful this country is!) we are more than ready to leave. Tracy wrote an article about our experience here. New Zealand will always have a warm spot in our hearts as we met so many wonderful people here, so enjoyed touring around and seeing the specular scenery and loved the food, wine and cheese....

After breaking free of the marina we escaped to this lovely anchorages off Waiheke Island about 14nm east of downtown Auckland. Here we are sheltered from the wind and swell coming out of the northeast and nestled up against a beautiful island. What a contrast to the busy life in Auckland!

For most yachts, when Il Maestrale winds come to Sardegna, they hunker down in some wind-protected anchorage to wait it out. Hoping it to last only a day or two while the winds take charge and blow at 35-45 kts or more, they swing along their anchorages with their captains losing sleep to check continuously that the yacht is not slipping off the anchorage and crashing into the many...

Aboard the SWS 82' Feelin' Good, Art, Giamma, Dan, Richie, Carmen, Tracy and Gustavo crossed the Atlantic from the Canaries to Grenada taking 13.8 days and averaging close to 10 kts for the entire time. Lots of high winds and heavy seas to deal with as well as mixing it up (always at night!) with numerous squalls as well. A much different crossing than the one made several years back...

We're ready to begin our passage across the Atlantic to the Caribbean tomorrow. The crew and boat are ready and we have so many provisions, we could go across and back again! We wanted to have all our favorite items onboard from Europe from the winter season as it's difficult to find what we want in the supermarkets of the islands.

Leaving Leixoes to an overcast sky and rain showers around the area we were motor sailing to keep making tracks south. Later in the morning the weather cleared off a bit and the winds came up so we got to sail for a while just in time for another visit from a dolphin pod. This time we had about 100 of them playing around the yacht for a good 30 minutes!
