Atlantic Rally for Cruisers ARC 2011

by Art on

In late October of 2011 we sailed from Sotogrande, Spain (in the Mediterranean) to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to stage ourselves to join the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) for our first Atlantic crossing. There we worked on provisioning the yacht for a 20 days transit and readying the equipment on-board to ensure we had no problems. The rest of our crew, Roland and Gustavo joined us in the final week before departure.

On November 20th, we launched along with 250 other yachts to begin the passage across to St Lucia in the Caribbean. Fifteen days, 12 hours later we arrived at 4:00 am in Rodney Bay Marina and were greeted with rum punches. A fabulous experience for all.

You can review our passage Gran Canaria to St. Lucia 2011 as well as our articles tagged arc-2011 on the adventure and a video titled HR-54 Feelin' Good Atlantic Crossing 2011.
