These photos were taken on the transatlantic return to Europe from the Caribbean by Feelin’ Good in May of 2012. The journey was broken up into two passages. The first was from Antigua to the Azores and took 15 days and 2433 nm. After a few days of rest, we continued from the Azores into southern Spain passing through the Strait of Gibraltar.
We had such a good time looking at all the beautiful classic yachts during the Antigua Sailing Week and the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta. This regatta began back in the 60’s when charter captains challenged each other to a race at the end of the charter season before they headed back across the Atlantic to Europe. It’s grown into a wonderful event that usually sees 50-60 yachts participate.
In late October of 2011 we sailed from Sotogrande, Spain (in the Mediterranean) to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to stage ourselves for an Atlantic crossing. There we worked on provisioning the yacht for a 20 days transit and readying the equipment on-board to ensure we had no problems. The rest of our crew, Roland and Gustavo joined us in the final week before departure.
Photos taken during the delivery of Feelin’ Good in July of 2011, a Hallberg-Rassy (HR-54) sailing yacht on its maiden voyage from Ellos, Sweden to Sotogrande, Spain. These photos span a timeframe from July 2011 thru September 2011 as we sailed 2800nm from Sweden along the Atlantic coast of Europe and thru the Strait of Gibraltar to Spain. An amazing journey in an amazing yacht.
These photos were taken on a flying circumnavigation of the world in 2008. We left from the USA in May and returned three months later newly awakened to how many wonderful places and people there out there. It culminated twenty years of flying for Art and eight years of flying for Tracy.
