Rainbow Reef Fiji 2016

by Art on

Tracy and I were here in 2004 on a live-aboard dive boat for 2 weeks. Since then, whenever someone would ask me where I thought the best diving and underwater photography was, I would always say, Rainbow Reef, Fiji. Now, 12 years later I can confirm that statement. The diving here in the Somosomo Strait is challenging as the current can be a real issue but, the results are definitely worth it.

We are anchored in Vivani Bay, about 3nm from the best diving and hired Dolphin Bay Divers to pick us up and take us to the best dive sites every day. It would be really hard to do this yourself as the dive sites are not marked and the dives are almost always a drift dive so having a guide like Roland in the water with you and Captain Apex in the boat watching for you when you surface is a must.

Lots of thanks to Dolphin Bay Divers for keeping us safe and showing us a wonderful part of Fiji. Be sure to contact these guys when you arrive here to help you plan a great experience too!

Wonderful. Joe and I did some snorkelling in Papua New Guinea in February which was pretty good, too. Doini Island, a privately owned resort in the Trobriands.
