We wanted a nice, alpine retreat for 3-4 days to enjoy winter in the Swiss Alps. A place that has a wonderful lodge, warm, comfy rooms, great food and wine. The nice thing about Switzerland is that description fits hundred of places and you can pretty much choose one sight-unseen and be sure of a wonderful experience. OK, so let's start out by saying we've been going to the Ambassador (and its sister hotel across the the street, L'Opera) for about 10 years now. Both hotels have always been clean, nice, reasonably priced (for Zürich!) and in a great location close to the Bellevue tram station. They are also about a 5 minute walk to the lake and the bridge crossing over the Zürich river.
