Nothing too special about this place but it was quiet for the night and a good distance from our last anchorage. We anchored in Sines Bay out of the wind and with very little swell.
Of special note is that this town was the birthplace of Vasco da Gama who was famous for being the first explorer to find a direct maritime route between Europe and India in 1497 opening Asia to the European traders via the Cape of Good Hope and across the Indian Ocean. This was a foundational moment in opening up trade vis the sea route between Europe and Asia. It helped establish Portugal as major seafaring nation.
