Our last anchorage on the Mediterranean cost of Spain before we launched across to the Balearic Islands. Another nice bay and we actually got in the water for the first time on this long passage from Finland (it was still little cool!).
Calpe is an old town in the Valencia region settled back in 950 BC by the Phoenicians. There is a large rock outcropping called Penon de Ifach. The Phoenicians referred to Gibraltar and Penon de Ifach as the south and the north rocks, respectively and were used as navigation aids along this coast for hundreds of years.
