Mooring at Pulau Gililawadarat, Komodo, Indonesia

What a lovely place all to ourselves! We've stayed on other moorings but are constantly besieged by local tour boats who either want to take our mooring or want to tie up to us. Regardless they run their Honda generators and deck lights all night long and we're constantly on the lookout to make sure they don't swing into us. So imagine our delight when we find a perfect little beach ringed by reef (for snorkeling) and deep drop-offs (for diving) with a single mooring ball in the middle! The only downside is not having line-of-sight to the only mobile antenna on Komodo peak so alas, a few days without internet. The trade off is worth it! Peace and quiet and a beautiful place to enjoy all to ourselves.

The northeast side of the bay (literally 100m from us) the top of the reef is a huge pool of gorgeous blue water with a sand bottom. The uniform depth is about 1.5m and is perfect for having a cocktail later in the day using the paddle-board as a 'bar' while we cool off in the water. We don't want to leave this place!!!

Turtles rise around the boat, small mantas play around the bay and local deer come down to the water's edge to visit. We are in a bowl of small, rocky hills. It was a calm morning so I got the drone out to take a photo and some video so you can see what a special place this is.

Just perfect!
